Which BC RTB form do I need?

Using the wrong form, or an outdated one, is one of the most common — and costly — BC tenancy mistakes. Here is a quick map from what you are trying to do to the official RTB form.

Match your situation to a form

  • Raising the rent → Notice of Rent Increase (RTB-7).
  • Ending a tenancy for your or close family’s use → the landlord’s-use notice to end tenancy.
  • Ending a tenancy because rent is unpaid → 10 Day Notice to End Tenancy for Unpaid Rent or Utilities (RTB-30).
  • Documenting the unit at move-in or move-out → the Condition Inspection Report.
  • Starting a tenancy → the Residential Tenancy Agreement (RTB-1).

Always use the current official form

The RTB updates its forms and the rules behind them. Download the current version from gov.bc.ca rather than reusing an old PDF, and double-check notice periods before you serve anything.
